Petar Angelov

Eving, Dortmund.

I live in Dortmund-Eving and work in three languages: Bulgarian, German and English. Why those three? Because here in Eving and the Nordstadt, lots of people move between exactly these languages. Certificates from Bulgaria, letters from German offices, and every now and then a contract in English.

What I’ll tell you first

Some offices want a certified translation, some don’t, and plenty of people pay for one they never needed. Tell me which office your document is for. I’ll tell you honestly what’s usual there, whether I can provide what they’re asking for, and if I can’t, what your best next step is.

How I work

Most requests are certificates or letters. I translate them accurately, but so that a German office can read them without coming back with questions. The other big part is revision: texts that have already been translated, often by a machine, and now read as if nobody checked them. I put them right without bending the meaning. Hence the name: Translate Better.
